Hi there,

happy new year first of all!
CumulusClips looks very cool but I have to run it with (the unsupported) nginx since the server is running other projects which can't get migrated to Apache2 easily (and parallel usage is a bit messy I think).

A friendly man called Fuzzy wrote this manual:
http://cumulusclips.org/forums/discussion/1679/how-to-use-cumulusclips-with-nginx

But I fail at configuring the URL rewrite rules in nginx.
I placed all the CC stuff into a subfolder called "video", the main page is accessible but every link caused 404.

At the beginning of the CumulusClips install script there are mentioned these rules for Apache:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . index.php [L]

According to Fuzzy, it's

try_files $uri $uri/ /index.php?q=$uri&$args =404;

which causes the rewriting but it doesn't work in my case, even when I make a seperation location with alias for "video".

Does anybody has a clue why this happens, or can someone tell me which is the actual scheme behing "index.php?" which CC does expect so I can write a similay rule for nginx?
I - for example - tried "/video/index.php?login" and "/video/index.php?q=login" but these seem to be wrong.

Thank you in advance,

Nico

Hello Damian and All! After enjoying Cumulusclips for modvid.com. I decided it was time to update my other youtube clone https://ETaffairs.com. I've been compiling a collection of ufology video for more than a decade. Admittedly, the majority of the videos there are more than 7 years old. However, many of them are pretty unique and are not easy to locate today on youtube. Recently I have began updating the content with newer videos and making preparations for a new promotion for the site. I hope that you can find some time to have a look with us!

Thanks again Damian. I really appreciate your CumulusClips video sharing platform. If the day comes that i can actually develop revenue from these ventures, i will certainly try to reciprocate support back your way. The old version of the site is currently still running on http://www.extraterrestrialaffairs.com/ and was set up with phpmotion. I had trouble utilizing SSL with that version of the site and much like modvid.com, it was very heavily membership exploited from china. Your format is a joy to use comparatively. There is no comparison tbh.

I'm not a fan of google adsense, or google in general despite the necessity of their services. If anyone has another ad revenue system that doesn't require selling my soul, i would appreciate it if could recommend. Thanks for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Darcy Klyne

Hello Damian and Cumulusclips members. https://modvid.com - The Energetictube.

Thank you for this great video sharing platform. modvid.com has been previously hosted on a shared server with vidiscript and was registration hacked about a year ago. I've since moved to a private server, i've implemented the captcha registration and SSL and of course switched over to Cumulusclips. I love the bulk import functionality. Everything works.

I found the installation and configuration of the site to be very straight forward and these forums were great for finding solutions without ever having to post here and have to ask.
My troubleshooting was as follows:
- the site seemed to function so i assumed the php directory was correct, however when i went to upload a video it would lock up at status: Processing video. When i went to enable log debugging or attempt to save a config in the admin>settings>video panel the site would lock up. Solved by enabling debugging logs in the database with phpmyadmin, realizing that there was no processing of video uploads taking place, then seeing the php directory needed /local/ added to it for my server setup. Once the php directory was corrected, the uploading and encoding worked flawlessly.
- Now i wanted to add hundreds of video files from my old host, SSH connected server to server as root and ftp'd a large directory of fla vides into the uploads/import directory. When i would see an error in the log about ftp permissions or credentials (can't remember the specific wording). This was corrected by using chown to switch ownership of the video files to the website hostname account since they were transfered over as root, they were owned by root and the host account could not control them to start the encoding. Once switched i was thrilled that the import feature worked flawlessly for more than a couple hundred videos.
I have to say i was really happy to be bulk processing for nearly a full day without an error in the logs. I literally couldn't believe was working that well.
Thanks so much Damian and all involved with sharing this script open source. Its a joy to work with and i'm planning on adapting etaffiars.com over to cumulusclips as well.
Sincerely,
Darcy Klyne

After that the easiest should be to replace the last video by the random one, but where should we do it?
Seems there are a few phtml files to change and so far our tries do not work...
If anybody could help?!

Hi,

Your demo looks great

Unfortunately, installing the software is simply too difficult.

I have followed every suggestion in these forum with no joy.

Firstly, when the installer starts... there is no way of giving it FTP details. However, chown the directory and all files to nobody:nobody does allow the installer to request FTP details. Even then it won't install. Although I give the exact path to the base installation, it advises it cannot write to the settings file.

May I suggest you use a simplified installation process. For example... ClipBucket was straight forward to install and takes care of all it's requirements without interference.

I wish I could have installed CumulusClips and put it to use on my private site, unfortunately it is too time-consuming to install.

Regards,
John

Does CumulusClips use video.js? If so I would like to update it but I cannot locate the relevant files (possibly they have changed between versions?).

CumulusClips definitely uses video-js.css which is annotated as part of video-js v4.10.2. This is horribly out of date as video-js is up to 7.5.5 now. I tried swapping in the latest video-js.css but it just broke the player; I would now like to try update everything but I cannot locate video.js. There is a video.plugins.js in the theme\js folder - is this the same file?

(This is part of my efforts to solve an issue with the embed player controls not displaying properly with a 16:9 video.)

My 16:9 videos seem to upload and encode correctly and play properly on my CumulusClips site.

However when I embed them, the window gets stretched and misses off the far right side of the video, and also cuts off the volume and fullscreen controls. In order to see the whole video consistently and to get the controls to display I have to force a 4:3 resolution (eg width="480" height="360"); but this results in black bars at the top and bottom.

Is there a way to make the embedding work correcrtly with a 16:9 aspect ratio?

I am currently using:

<iframe src="https://stcvideo.com:443/cclips/embed/31/" width="480" height="360" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe>

And I have tested removing the width and height arguments as well as forcing a 16:9 ratio instead.

I have chatted with the guys in the ffmpeg IRC and they say my encoding options are fine so I believe it is an issue with CumulusClips embed function, or my use of it.

Thank you!

Hi! I am trying to get video uploads working, and would greatly appreciate any help.

I am running 64bit Centos 7.6 kvm v78.0.27 with my own install of ffmpeg (including all required codecs), which is located at /usr/bin/ffmpeg, and the Cumulus Clips admin control panel has been updated with that path.

Currently uploads are returning "The final H.264 file was not created. The id of the video is: 5" in converter.log (this is the entirety of the error displayed.)

A larger log generated at the same timestamp ends with "==================================================================
H.264 SHIFT MOOV ATOM
==================================================================

H.264 Shift Moov Atom Command: /home/stcadmin/public_html/cclips/cc-core/system/bin/ffmpeg-64-bit/qt-faststart /home/stcadmin/public_html/cclips/cc-content/uploads/h264/28LkzDAR3QIKU1b0fGII_temp.mp4 /home/stcadmin/public_html/cclips/cc-content/uploads/h264/28LkzDAR3QIKU1b0fGII.mp4 >> /home/stcadmin/public_html/cclips/cc-core/logs/28LkzDAR3QIKU1b0fGII.log 2>&1

H.264 Shift Moov Atom Output:"

Which seems strange because I would have expected more information after "Output:", but the file ends right there. I have uploaded the entire logfile as an attachment.

Please help! Thank you!
