Embed Private Videos?

I found the discussion here:

http://cumulusclips.org/forums/index.php?p=/discussion/comment/2507/#Comment_2507

where @Damian talks about allowing users to embed videos that have been marked private in the next release, which was in May, I believe.

I just downloaded and installed the most recent version (2.2.0) from the CumulusClips website, but I believe that if a video is 'private', there is no 'embed' code.

Can anyone verify if the patch mentioned in the above thread was added to 2.2.0, or if was pushed to a later release (or perhaps not at all?)

Thanks,

MartinJ

  • No, this functionality does NOT exist in 2.2.0. When Damian was talking about the next release, I am positive he meant 2.3 or up.

    This is what I have done to make this work:

    TO ENABLE EMBEDS ON PRIVATE VIDEOS
    ----------------------------------

    themes/default/play.phtml

    Line 94:

    From: <?php if ($video->disableEmbed == '0' && $video->gated == '0' && $video->private == '0'): ?>

    To: <?php if ($video->disableEmbed == '0' && $video->gated == '0'): ?>

    cc-core/controllers/embed.php

    From:

    $videoMapper = new VideoMapper();
    $video = $videoMapper->getVideoByCustom(array(
    'video_id' => $_GET['vid'],
    'status' => 'approved',
    'gated' => '0',
    'private' => '0'
    ));

    To:

    $videoMapper = new VideoMapper();
    $video = $videoMapper->getVideoByCustom(array(
    'video_id' => $_GET['vid'],
    'status' => 'approved',
    'gated' => '0'
    // 'private' => '0'
    ));

  • Thanks, @GreenMotion. That did the trick.

    I misunderstood @Damian in that thread when he said:

    "Yes, our next patch release will be out in a couple of weeks with a few bug fixes. This will be included."

    to mean that it was included in that patch, not the next release. Oops!

    Thanks again for your help.

    Patch, Release, poteto, potato ;) I don't think *anything* was released since Damian's post. In any case, glad to hear this worked for you.
