Getting Started With Your Video Website

CumulusClips is a video CMS that allows you to and run a video sharing website. Here is a quick guide to getting started with CumulusClips.

First you need to determine where you will be hosting your video website. Whether you choose to host yourself on your own dedicated servers, choose our cloud hosted version, or opt for cheap and quick shared hosting, there are many possible configurations. See our hosting to view the possible hosting solutions. When determining where to host your site make sure your provider meets the minimum requirements to run our video script and operate video website smoothly.

Download & Install

The next step is to get a copy of the video script. You can download the script from the download section of our site. There is both a zip and tar.gz archive available for your preference.

Next, you actually install our video CMS. See this guide for instructions on doing so. The installer is a really simple wizard that will guide you through configuring your site and setup the settings and database.

Now that you have your video website up and running, it's time to customize it to your needs. You can create custom themes to achieve your desired look and feel. Take advange of custom plugins to add any desired functionality. You may browse our add on repository to see if you find any existing add ons that do what you're looking for.

Staying Updated

CumulusClips is constantly being updated with new features and fixes. Periodically we will output updates to the script. CumulusClips automatically retrieves the latest updates available and prompts you to install them. Once you approve, it will install any updates automatically with only one click.

Before performing any updates, whether automatic or manual, be sure to backup your database, and files. Keep in mind that updates overwrite all core files in the script, including the default theme and language file. Any changes you made will be lost. To avoid loosing your changes make sure you are using a custom theme or plugin which are not affected by updates.
